As a superhero fan, and someone who loves Superman, I (Rob) picked up a trade paperback from 2002 called "Superman in the Fifties." These are great stories. A much more simple time. The characters that were created during the 1950s that surrounded Superman have become canon. During the 1950s when the "Adventures of Superman" TV show was airing, Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen became so popular, they wound up getting their own comics -and those comics were well done. Some of those stories are in this collection. My favorite story though, is the introduction of Krypto the Superdog!

The villains, like Lex Luthor, aren't even purely evil -- they have their limits. Bizarro is not evil at all, just . . . dumb and amusing so long as Superman can repair any damage he does.
