Dachshund Rescue South Florida Part 2: 2 Surviving Dogs of 4 Rescued

  In Part 2 of the Dachshund Rescue effort, get an inside understanding of what rescuers deal with whenever they are called to take in a dog.  Dachshund Rescue South Florida: The Joy and Heartbreak of Rescue

   In March, the Dachshund Rescue of South Florida received a call from someone who claimed he was "watching" 4 senior Dachshunds, all in very bad health, after their "owner left them behind." - It was obvious he was their owner (not a parent, because these dogs were in such horrible shape). Here's their account of what happened: 

Ethel is an 8 year old female, petite at only 7.5 lbs with a mouth full of rotten teeth and that need to be removed. Her blood work is far from perfect, but no immediately life threatening concerns. She is the only one of the 4 without a significant heart issue.

2 Dachshunds in better shape than the 2 in this story

Sweet Harold. He is about the same age as the others (about 8), also small and helpless at 7 lbs. Also with a mouth full of rotten teeth and a growth on his foot that needs to be removed. His blood work is like Ethel's....not perfect, but workable, but with a significant heart murmur and cataracts in his eyes. Despite all he has been through, he is the sweetest of boys and we hope that we can provide both him and Ethel with the love, safety and comfort they have been lacking for so long.
