Rescue Work: Checking on 3 Dogs in 1 Week

Dash
As volunteers for dog rescues, we get emails about Dachshunds or Weimaraners in local shelters that may need to be taken into a rescue. This week I received emails about 3 Dachshunds in local shelters that needed homes or foster homes. So, I inquired via E-mail  about each of the dogs and got some good news.  Fortunately, there are a couple of Dachshund rescues in the area, and two of the rescues managed to get the three Dachshunds and place them into foster care quickly this week.

Meet the dogs:
1)   MEET "DASH"
Dash was found running around the city earlier today. She was taken to the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter or BARCS at 301 Stockholm Street, Baltimore MD 21230. BARCs said "She is just the cutest little thing and very sweet. Dash is a 12 yr – female – unaltered – 6.5 lbs. She is understandably nervous here but more than welcomes attention from all staff. Dash has a grade 2-3/6 heart murmur and possible mammary gland tumor. She also needs further dental examination."

Max
The ANSWER:  Dash has a rescue commitment after stray hold, thank you!

2) MEET "MAX"
Max is a 12 year old/senior red, smooth Dachshund who also came to BARCS in Baltimore.  Max's mother passed away a few months ago.  Other family members had been caring for him, but just moved to a new place that does not allow pets.  The owners said he has no known health issues, but can be a grouchy old man when he wants to be.   He is very scared at the shelter, but came over to sit with me and just shook in my lap.  He needs a quiet, patient family that will let him live out the rest of his days in comfort and luxury!
ANSWER:  Max has left for rescue- thank you! :)  -melanie
- Max was taken into foster care by the Dachshund Rescue of North America thanks to our friend Shelley.

Olivia
3) MEET "OLIVIA"

Olivia is a wire haired black and tan dachshund about 10 years old. She came in as a stray to Anne Arundel County Animal Control.
ANSWER: She was claimed by "Little Paws Dachshund Rescue" and brought into foster care!
