Dog abandoned in trash pile gets second chance at life
LOS ANGELES - A touching YouTube video about the rescue and rehabilitation of a homeless dog is tugging heartstrings and teaching a lesson about second chances. California rescue group Hope for Paws
posted the story of Miley’s journey and recovery after she was found
abandoned in a trash pile. The video was posted Dec. 12 and already has
almost 3 million views. The video says that rescuers received an
urgent call about a sick dog living in a trash pile. They were told that
Miley had been surviving there for months. The video shows Miley's rescue from the trash pile and her journey as rescuers begin nursing her back to health. Miley
arrived at the Veterinary Care Center and her doctors found she
suffered from mange, parasites, bacterial infections and malnutrition,
the video said.
She required medicated baths and treatment for all
her wounds. Her caregivers said she was pretty shut down throughout the
process and really needed time to heal. A couple weeks later, Miley met Frankie who had recently been rescued from a drain pipe. Frankie
was frightened of everything, but Miley took him under her wing and the
two quickly became buddies, teaching us all a lesson about the power of
friendship.
Hope for Paws handled Miley's vet care and she is now being fostered by The Fuzzy Pet Foundation. Frankie is being fostered by The Forgotten Dog Foundation. Visit the websites to fill out an adoption application for Miley or Frankie.
