Winter seems to have arrived early this year. Last week there were big snow storms in Nebraska and central Minnesota. This weekend, upstate NY and northern Pennsylvania had a good snow storm. Western Maryland received some snow this weekend, but here in central Maryland we only received cold rain and a frost this morning.
My weather-friend Mike Phelps, formerly of the Weather Channel and now a storm chaser in his own right posted this new short video of his weekend in Tennessee.
He said "The first snow of the season for the southern Appalachians. I shot this video on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Newfound Gap, TN, in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The first snows came about two weeks early. I hope that is a sign of a snowy winter ahead!" (That makes one of us!). Anyway, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Smoky Mountains.
