Surprise call from MD Atty General

Hi all - I think I've been in "activist" mode this week.
After hearing that Maryland Atty general Douglas Gansler is trying to get gay marriages that are done in other states as being recognized in Maryland, I called his office and left a message on Monday. HE CALLED ME today! He said the MD constitution states marriage is between a man and woman, but he said several other states have that issue but still recognize marriages done outside their states. He said that although there may not be enough support this year (it's an election year and we know that politicians who want to get re-elected don't want to address this) - but maybe next year would look better. He said he's 46 (my age) and thinks its ridiculous that Maryland doesn't allow gay marriage. He said by not having it, Maryland is saying "not everyone is equal." WOW. I am SO impressed. Now THAT is a great Atty General. To contact his office: Main telephone number (410) 576-6300 or 1 (888) 743-0023 toll-free in Maryland.
